Axel is an unlockable character in Dead Estate.

Appearance

Axel has blond wavy hair, with yellow shades. He has a shirtless leather jacket, his bare chest being visible with (fake) abs.

In his B Costume, he has black hair, wearing a red and black jacket and shirt as well as black fingerless gloves. He's styled after Travis Touchdown.

In his C Costume, he wears a white business shirt as well as a blue suit jacket and a red tie. He's styled after Reigen Arataka.

Story

Axel arrives at The Mansion with his film crew, breaking in through the window. While filming, a zombie attacks their group, which Axel disposes of, not seeing the rest of his crew being attacked and zombified. Once Axel realizes what happened, he throws the zombies off of him and flees the room. Around 30-40 days later, he still remains in the mansion, seeking safety in his secret hideaway. He notices Jeff and Jules walking into a nearby room, and hearing Chunks catches up to them.

Abilities

  • Axel's default weapon is the Hatchets, which is unique to him.
  • Axel has 4 max health, less than average and shared with Jules, Digby, and BOSS.
  • Axel has 2.6 movement speed, higher than average and tied with Jules.
  • Axel can charge his Hatchets to throw them both at the same time, boomeranging back on him. If the charge is still held down when returned, they'll be fully charged again. They charge faster during a Boss.
  • Axel's Hatchets pass through enemies.
  • Axel's secret hideaway can be found in the starting room of every floor. It contains a present that can contain money, an Item, or a Weapon. The room also contains several barrels with health and Ammo.
  • Axel will quip after most kills, the quip usually being related to the enemy he killed.

Unlocks

Axel is unlocked by finding his secret hideaway. The latch to enter it can be found on the Upper Story, and requires the Coffin Key to unlock. Alternatively, he can be unlocked by beating Assignment Anya for the first time.

His B Costume is unlocked by picking up the Laser Blade

His C Costume is unlocked by finishing a run with every one of his individual curses activated.

Strategy and Preferred Items

Axel starts pretty weak, but with a small damage up and utilizing his charged attack can easily one-shot most enemies.

  • Any damage-ups, such as Butterscotch Bunny or Modding Kit 1, are insanely helpful for his charged attacks.
  • Avoid Slime, as the bounce affect removes his hatchets ability to pass through enemies.
