"Come by anytime!"

"Need a place to keep your cash, huh?"

-Roselia

The Vault is an Item that guarantees that an elevator to The Bank will appear on each floor.

Strategy

The Vault is a situationally useful item that benefits from long-term planning. Frequent trips to the Bank allows players to prevent loss of money before they die, and benefits future runs. However, the player still needs money to purchase upgrades and Items within a run, and they may not benefit from depositing money versus spending it immediately.

If the player has lots of money deposited, The Vault is extremely useful, and the player has ample opportunity to withdraw money between each floor to ensure they have funds.

Regardless of depositing/withdrawing money, it's still ideal to visit the Bank between each floor, as its guaranteed Gold Pots will give the player roughly $300-$500 each visit.

Synergies

  • Christmas Gift - Each Sub Floor visited activates Christmas Gift's effect, giving more items total.
  • Beef Ramen, Chicken Ramen, Pork Ramen, and Shrimp Ramen - Easy access to the bank allows the player to keep their wallet low and take advantage of the ramen items' effects.
  • Elevator Button - Having both this item and Elevator Button provides two special elevators each floor, increasing the player's progression choices.
  • Mr. Moneybags, Silver Soul, and Tax Forms - Being able to withdraw money frequently allows the player to meet these items' effect conditions.
  • Sledgehammer or The First Dime - Both items help the player access the two Gold Pots behind the bank counter.

Trivia

  • Banks tend to maintain uppity architecture as a social protection against bank runs. The idea goes that if the bank looks the part and seems secure, people will be less likely to withdraw money en masse and cause the bank to fail.
  • Every time the player visits the bank, they're holding a gun. Maybe it's why Cordelia and Roselia don't charge banking fees.
