Tankmen Doll

Tankmen Doll causes Weapon Rooms to contain an additional weapon chest, providing the player more choices (or Money via scrapping) each time they encounter one. It stacks on itself, meaning collecting more increases the number of weapon chests by 1 each time.

Strategy

Tankmen Doll is a convenience item that is generally preferred to have. Additional options for weapons allows the player more freedom in tackling each floor, and depending on the random weapons obtained from each room, they may be able to form a strategy to use one first and then come back for the other. It also provides more Money if the player decides to scrap the weapons, especially when playing as Fuji and Digby who have more restrictive weapon usage by default.

Synergies

  • Edible Bullets - With the exception of Luis, most characters can only carry one weapon by default. Scrapping the additional weapon provides an additional health source, which is especially helpful on higher difficulties.
  • Heart of Steel - Scrapping the additional weapon on characters that cannot use more than one secondary weapon by default gives an immediate health upgrade with little downside, since the player is unlikely to spend ammo on the unused weapon anyway.
  • Holster - Having multiple weapon slots allows a player to more readily utilize the double weapon rewards, like Luis can by default.
  • Super Glue - The increased weapon choice makes it more likely that the player can find a powerful secondary weapon to replace their primary one.
  • Trade-In Receipt - Increases the Money obtained by scrapping the additional weapon on characters that cannot use more than one secondary weapon by default.
  • Weapon Refresher - The player can reroll the contents of multiple chests for a greater chance of encountering a useful weapon. Unlike Item Refresher, the player can't easily use multiple rewards per weapon room unless they are playing as Luis, though they can immediately scrap whichever weapon they plan not to use for some extra Money.

Trivia

  • The Tankmen Doll is based on Captain, the primary protagonist of the TANKMEN animated series by JohnnyUtah. TANKMEN is hosted on Newgrounds, and was well-received by the Newgrounds community to the point that Captain became its primary mascot.
  • Prior to Heaven & Hell, this item did not stack correctly, so its effect capped at two weapon chests.
