Old Reel is an Item that makes the game display a black-and-white monochrome palette.
Strategy
While it is a purely visual change, and therefore should have little effect on gameplay, the lower contrast of enemies and objects can make the game more difficult. On the "Dark" floor variant, it can become extremely difficult to see certain enemies.
Trivia
- Roselia claims that the reel is as old as herself. The timeframe of the game is implied to be the late 1990s (judging by Jules's student ID listing her in the class of 1998 before she dropped out), and color film standards were first developed in the 1930s and only started to replace black-and-white film in the early 1950s. However, 35mm film itself dates as far back as the late 1880s. Roselia could be reasonably assumed to be in her late 40s or early 50s, or over 100 as an unrealistic maximum. Must be her skincare routine.
