The Toilet

The Toilet is an NPC found in The Bathroom. Acting as a shopkeeper, the player can trade the Toilet their Toilet Paper for powerful items.

Appearance

It is either a sentient, talking toilet, or they are a person trapped inside the toilet. The toilet itself is standard white porcelain stained with unknown gunk, implying that the bathroom hasn't been used or cleaned in a while.

Personality

The Toilet is constantly in demand of Toilet Paper, implying that it is somehow a great need, though what exactly it is used for is unknown. The Toilet is relieved to see the player and begs them not to go, and, when the player inspects the items on sale, makes half-hearted and nervous attempts to hype the items as valuable. Little else is known about the Toilet, who has little relevance outside The Bathroom.

Trivia

  • The Toilet may be a reference to a character from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask known only as ???, based on a Japanese ghost story of a hand in the toilet that grabs unsuspecting victims from below. ??? lives in the toilet at Clock Town's Stockpot Inn and requests paper objects for a vague purpose, and the player can offer some otherwise plot-crucial items to receive a health upgrade in return. Similar characters would later appear in future Zelda games.
  • The Toilet has no unique item quotes despite being a shopkeeper. Each quote is instead a vague recommendation, and the Toilet may not know how each item actually works.
