Pierrot on the Attic Sanctum

THE FRAGILE FOOL

Pierrot is a boss in Dead Estate, and appears at the end of the Attic Sanctum.

Appearance

Pierrot is a clown-like monster, with white face paint and green hair. He rides a rainbow-colored ball for his first phase, but loses it when he enters the second.

Attacks

  • Phase 1: Bounces towards the player on his ball 4 times in a row.
  • Bounces straight upwards 3 times to gain momentum, then launches himself off-screen before falling onto the player's position and spurting out a single wave of tear bullets. Cycles back to attack 1 until he takes enough damage to enter Phase 2.
  • Phase 2: After taking a certain amount of damage, Pierrot will begin running around the room in random directions, spurting tears above and behind him similar to an Eye Spider.

Strategy

Pierrot's ball phase is predictable and easy enough, especially if you have decent agility and can avoid his bounces. Knockback weapons are great for keeping him away from you, and they will be very important in phase 2. His second phase is when Pierrot becomes truly annoying, as there is no way to tell in which direction he will run, and he actually has a bit of knockback resistance so he will still run in his set direction until he picks a new one. Try to kill him as quickly as possible to avoid taking damage and don't use melee weapons. Needless to say, Fuji hates Pierrot.

Trivia

  • Pierrot is the name of the popular Japanese animation studio that made Naruto, Bleach, and Yu Yu Hakusho. Its logo is a clown face. It's pronounced "Pee-yeah-row."
  • Pierrot shows both sides of the Clown profession. Happy to be entertaining people, and then comically sad when not.
